My Google-fu has failed me. Anybody know why the coolant "guage" would always read 2 "bars"? I start up the bike from cold; 2 bars. Ride it for 5 hours; 2 bars.

Oh; and it seems that the cooling fan never comes on either.

Thoughts?

Bad sensor?

See #25 here, you might be able to test it for resistance with a cold engine and a hot engine, see if it changes, if it stays the same its a bad sensor, if it changes then the gauge is the problem. I can try mine which is working if you want see what a normal reading is.

Just an FYI - When my '12 V1000 first starts, the temp readout is Zero Bars. As I begin to ride the temp slowly increases to 2 Bars. It runs there until I'm stopped in traffic for a period of time and sometimes moves to 3 Bars. After moving again and moving air through the radiator, the bars drop back to 2.

Your situation sounds a faulty gauge and/or sensor. Good Luck (y)
