03 DL1000 idle issue

So got a new to me DL1000.

Seems that it will idle high (4k) for a minute then drop to 3k.
Once warm (two bars showing) it drops to around 1200.

Any thoughts?

Yes, your fast idle is way too high. You can adjust it. Pages 4-70, and 4-71 of the service manual give an explanation on how to do this, with pictures. If you don't already have the factory service manual, you should invest in one. Or if you're low on funds, you could probably use google and find a link to a PDF factory service manual.
