Bumping for Texas

New "No Strom Yet" Trooper here. Noticed there hasn't been a post in this section for 5 years. Trying to offload a 2000 Valkyrie Tourer to to make room and funds available for a Strom. Looking for a 2014-new DL1000 but not ruling out older ones.

Still trying to find out the main differences between pre and post 2014. If anyone cares to explain the differences to me or point me to a post or guide, I would greatly appreciate it! I got to test ride a 2018 and I loved it but not ready to spend that much.

If you are in DFW or Mid Cities and have any leads or want to go ride, please contact me! Looking forward to becoming a trooper.

14 DL1000 are identical to earlier version except for:

Engine size, poor and toque
Engine management stystem
ABS standard on 2014+
Traction control standard on 2014+
Upside down (better quality) front forks on 2014+
Better dash with useful information (time computer) on 2014+
Independent low and high beam stacked vertically on 2014+ vs side by side dual headlights on pre+2014
Beak on 2014+
Refreshed contemporary "styling" on 2014+
Monoblock four piston front brakes on 2014+
Better fuel mileaage on 2014+ (but 20 liters vs 22 liters on pre- 2014)

I'm sure I'm missing something but I'm sure you get the idea.

(Mod note ([me] really this message doesn't belong in this forum but bourbon is helping me ignore that detail.)

My Opinion:
Vee or V= DL1000 before 2014
Vee2 or V2 = DL1000 2015 to 2019
Vee3 or V3 = DL1050 2020 to?

My Stroms:
2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 205,000+ km, 127,000+ miles.

This can help preventing from cars pulling out in front of you (SMIDSY)
SMIDSY detailed report.

Bikes in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area

That is crazy! First post here too.

If it is the red 1000 ABS in Austin, I am actually headed over to buy that in the morning. I'm coming coming from Houston. I see that you are in Dallas Ft. Worth and there is a gray DL1000 ABS/Adventure right near you. There is also a super modded out 2005 that I wanted to go check out, but I don't have the time.

Look up item 5008052965 on CycleTrader for the 2014 SUZUKI V-STROM 1000 ABS ADVENTURE (Includes the luggage and other Adventure upgrades)

Look up item 6959737583 on Craigslist for 2005 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 - $1750 (Boyd) Only downside is 37K miles.

$5500 is a screaming deal! Wasn't anything like that within driving distance of Houston when I was looking last year.

So I picked up that red one in Austin and I am loving it! I don’t know if you are still in the market, but that 2014 VStrom 1000 just dropped to $5000.

Yeah I've messaged this guy 3 times on cycletrader with no response. Been looking at it since it was posted. Maybe he'll respond on Craigslist.
