Zumo 660 won't connect to PC via USB

Has anyone had a problem connecting your 660 to a PC? I attached the car cradle and at the back is a USB port. When I plug the USB wire and plug to the PC the unit will pop a message saying "The USB cable is connected to the wrong port". Any fixes/help or suggestions is appreciated...thanks

Have you re-booted your computer? Can you just use a (the) USB cable directly to you PC sans cradle?

I connect mine using the cable that came with the unit that is USB at one end and mini USB at the other. You need to remove the battery cover to plug in the mini USB connector. This is what is shown in the Garmin user manual.

I believe that port is for the traffic receiver. You can only use the one behind the battery door for actual data transfers.

Zumo 660 won't connect to PC via USB

I am a little bit surprised by Garmins design having to open the Battery door every time I would sync my unit to my PC. I think it's just impractical. Nevertheless I have to live with. Thanks a lot for your response...

One more thing...where did you run your cradle hard wire on your Vstrom..I have the SW Motech anti vibration mounts and I can't seem to find a way to run the Garmin wires which is quite thick in diameter. I hate to drill a hole on my bike...any idea?

Cutting the wire and making a hole in one of the rubber inserts in an unused windscreen mounting hoke works fine. Then connect the wires back together.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

Probably trouble with the F4U tube. Check the filament.

I plugged the Garmin-supplied USB-miniUSB cable into a USB port on my PC and into the miniUSB port inside the battery door. All I get is a message saying to close the battery door.
No PC-GPS image appears on the device.
