Garmin GPS hardwire

I have a Garmin Nuvi 2455LM that I want to mount on Vstrom. I pretty much know how I want to mount it but my question is about powering it. I could use the cord that came with it but then I would have to mount some cigarette lighter socket for it. I don't know if I want to do that because I don't want and cords hanging loose from the GPS unit. I also thought about hard wiring it to the bike which would be much neater with the power cord tucked away. The only problem with that is I don't know where to obtain a power cord for this purpose. The standard cord that comes with it has something on the cord for traffic detection. I also thought about just running it on the GPS internal battery. Don't know how long the battery is supposed last on this unit before needing a charge. Any thoughts?

Be aware the plug has a 12V-5V converter in it so you can't just cut it off.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Hard wired my Garmin Nuvi 750 with one of these, off Ebay don't know if compatible with your unit.

This guy sells a ton of that stuff, I've used him several times. Highly recommended:
