Bought the parrot sk4000, but I want my earbuds.... can I slice

So I bought the outdated parrot sk4000 (50 bucks now) anyway I tried it out, the bluetooth reception is great, the interface works but isn't intuitive, I am able to make calls and the person at the other end hears me clear as a bell at instant impound speeds but I can't hear anything over 60 MPH. It seems that in helmet speakers are never going to replace my trusty etymotic er6i's. anyway, so I'm wondering.... should I be able to just cut the helmet speakers and splice on my ER6i's... I can't find anything about what impedance the helmet speakers are, and I'm also concerned that the helmet speaker power may blow out my trusty etymotics... does anyone have any input on this proposed transplant?

I think you should probably be ok.

I wouldn't splice them in, I would source a headphone socket (mini one), cut off the current speakers and splice in the headphone socket. Then you can just plug in any in-ear phones you want.

Those sort of phones/speakers are all usually in the 8-300 ohm range i think.

I think using a female 3.5mm socket and soldering it on does sound like a better idea, so I guess all that's left is whether the impedance would be too much different, and if the power designed to move large speakers would blow out the tiny drivers in my etymotics.... think I'll try it with a sacrificial pair of cheapo's first. '

I'd really like to use a chassis mount 3.5mm connector and actually install it in the parrot's control box, but I doubt there's enough extra room inside of it.

So for the record, I cut the stock speakers off, and soldered on a 3.5mm female jack and tried out my etymotics.... they sound pretty damn good, a slight electronic noise when there's no music playing, but not at all perceptible when music is playing or when making a phone call.

So for around 50 bucks I have a bluetooth headset for my helmet, that allows me to use my noise cancelling earbuds, sure the navigation of the parrot device kind of sucks but it's useable, and I can finally hear my tunes, and make and receive phone calls without breaking the bank.
