I've had it with %$#@&(%# Starcom !

Ok, I think I just have bad luck. I've recently installed a Starcom1 Digital system on my Wee. I've plugged it to a Centech AP-2 and then to my Garmin 2820. I've been reading so many good responses for this product that I thought I'd give it a try. Coming from an Autocom system on my BMW, I was expecting a less expensive but equal quality alternative.

In short, I've spent the last several days on the phone and on line with the guy who sold me the system. Heck of a nice guy and very patient with apparent dumb asses. I've plugged everything in just as he's told me and this thing just doesn't work, (for me anyway).

I've made up new curse words, my neighbors are poised to call the SWAT team and my wife isn't speaking to me.

Here's the deal. Unless some troopers out there can save me from certain mental break down, I'm taking this thing off my bike, selling it, and going wireless. I think by now the new Scala Rider G4s should be on the market and they look promising. I have a buddy that has a set of Q2s and he loves them. No problems whatsoever.

Any advice or offers on the Starcom?

I have the Starcom Digital and love it works great.I had the Advanced before and it worked well to.You didn't really explain what is going on with your unit so it is hard to comment. If it is not powering up I would check the power soruse and then make sure the cables and connector pins are all in good shape (not bent or missing). If the number one heads set is not plugged in or is not making the connection the unit will not power up.

Whyzzat? Sometimes (but not always) you don't get what you don't pay for. The Autocom is expensive for a reason!

Just sayin' ...

I've had really good luck with Starcom systems too.

What is it doing (or not doing correctly)?

After plugging all the leads in, nothing would work. I went and bought a splitter and plugged my MP3 and the MUS 04 lead into the music 1 port. BTW, the MUS 04 is plugged into my Garmin 2820.

The short story, I finally, after 3 full re-sets, got everything working. There is some interference with the sound/music quality. Still, this doesn't leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. Apparently, everybody else has good luck with Starcom products, except me......

I guess I'll use it until the new Scala Rider G4 comes out. Gotta have some of those wireless deals. Charge it, install it, pair it with everything and use it..

Oh, and another thing, the Starcom instructions are mostly worthless and confusing at best.
