Son's 360 Nuvi on hand waste of time on Strom?

I am real newbie to GPS. I am taking trip to Vegas in week or so and my son has Nuvi 360 (has sound) that we got him for Christmas that he rarely uses but likes (I do not have GPS and have not used it yet). My used DL650 has four 12V lighter sockets from PO (have not used any yet) and I am thinking it might be real easy to mount the 360 on handlbars [Ram Handlebar mount for Garmin GPS III & V- link below?] and just plug it in for directions on trip using the included car adapter (and pocket research along the way).

Will that unit actually be usable with built in sound on the road? I don't plan to ride in rain so I figure this is worth a try for only a $40 mount since I seem to have everything else.

Will this work and is it that easy?

I have a Nuvi 200 but, I can't hear the sound. The visual directions are useful, although obviously less safe. Just don't take your eyes off the road for long! I've been happy using mine on trips.

I have the Garmin nuvi 350, can't hear the audio on the bike. Great unit otherwise. I use mine off the internal battery, which BTW will go about 7-8 hrs if you turn the brightness down to about 33%.

This is the mount I use, it works great hasn't budge in a year+ use on the bike. BTW this will fit your Nuvi 360, which is the same unit as mine with the added benefit of bluetooth.

If you buy from them use RAMLIVECHAT in the coupon section of the order area and you save 5%.

I'll tell you this, no eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.

I mounted my Nuvi 200 up at the windshield so it's always right in my line of sight so I never have to take my eyes off the road.

They work fine, but they are not waterproof. You can wrap them in plastic sheet, or use a ziplock bag. There are other mounts available on fleabay but the amoto one looks pretty nice.

There are a few annoyances. If you have a route selected, it doesn't show your speed. You can only select one waypoint and one via point, so you can get fancy on route selection.

cool tip jcc

thanks - for 30 bucks i might just get that mount. Might take it in any event since it does not take up much room
