Zumo 590 sale

I had been on the fence about this GPS until this sale price -$550 US from GPS city using ADVrider coupon code (link to advrider thread. RAM Mount & Garmin Discounts | Page 30 | Adventure Rider). Works at Canadian site too.

Includes lifetime maps and powered mounts for car and motorcycle.
Bluetooths to helmet speakers and phone, curvy roads feature, lane assist and junction views, 3D map views etc, etc. Pricey compared to car GPS but not bad for high end motorcycle GPS.

Thumbs up

That's a fantastic deal. I paid full retail for my 590 LM when it first came out. Very happy with this GPS. Recently purchased a new Delorme Inreach unit from GPS City at a nice discount and really fast shipping. Take advantage of this discount!

Looks like the 390s can be had regularly for around $350 now as well due to the 395 and 595 models being out.

How's the visibility compared to an auto unit?
I was considering getting one of the new glass multitouch GPS units since it appears they have better contrast in light.

I just received it today and haven't tried it out on the bike. I've read some complaints about visibility in direct sunlight but indoors it is just as bright as my Garmin Montana - which has never been a problem on the bike.

Thanks! I went ahead and snagged one - by far the best price I've seen on a Zumo.
I really want to try that curvy roads navigation

When I bought my V-Strom last week it came with the 590. I already have the smaller 390. They function pretty much the same except that one is bigger. Screen is good on both in bright sunlight. If I had to buy one this sale price seems like a good deal.

I like the tyre pressure monitors, too. It's a handy feature to have.

I'm not sure about the weather app, though. Its data doesn't correlate with local weather services.

I'm pretty happy with the weather app.. especially when it shows storms coming that we can dodge. Not perfect but very welcome to have when bad storms are about. Also recently go the traffic app. I didn't expect too much but it and it is much better than my low expectations. When routing (say to work) it notifies of delays enroute and offers alternate routes if they make sense. This morning there was a 10 minute delay on my regular route and it suggested an alternate I don't normally go because it is about 5 minutes longer on a normal day. It basically saved me about 5 minutes of travel time.

LOL - don't forget the curvy roads routing option.
It works well - just remember to flip it back if you need to get somewhere in a hurry!
So far I'm very pleased with the unit. It can get glared out if the Texas sun hits it just right - what doesn't?
I've also gotten several new map updates so it's not a red headed stepchild.
