I had a few TT1s and have now a TT2, both versions are Riders, I am assuming yours also is a Rider.
If so, you may have a problem with the actual motorcycle mounting bracket. If you look at the front, where the unit clips on, you will see 4 holes where 4 screws hold it together. What happens is that where the screws are inset the plastic cracks or breaks, this means the screws are not holding the front bit of plastic down, which in turn causes the pins to NOT make a true connection and it will shut down when it runs out of power.
There are a few threads on VSRI about this with photos, but the forum is having issues at this time and posts are missing.
Have a real close look inside them screw holes, twist the bracket at the same time, see if that is the cause.
I wore out two brackets under warrenty, one TTR1 and they finally upgraded me to a TTR2 at no cost.
