Garmin quest power

This question seems silly when I ask it in my head, but I have to throw it out there anyway...

Knowing that the unit runs on 5V, what will happen if you run power to it directly from a fuse block or the battery? Basically, will the thing blow up if I run 12V into it?

Don't do it. Some of the older Garmins ran on 5-40 volts DC, but the newer ones might not like it. Call up Garmin and ask, maybe I'm wrong.

I wasn't going to unless I heard something in the affirmative from someone else. I'm just too damn cheap to buy the actual wiring harness from Garmin, so any alternative I can find would be cool

I ordered a 4-pin power connector from GPS City for about $20 CDN.
