12v camera + mpeg2/4 recorder

Ordered a pda mount, and instead received a tiny 12v color camera. Camera does not have audio, but figured this would be cool for a hard mount camera. I know a laptop could be configured with a tv tuner card for a video input. What are my options for recording the output of this camera? Buy a used camcorder and input into that? Where should this 2cmX4cm camera be mounted, and how to protect the lense?

Without seeing the camera, you are going to need a recording device (most likely a camcorder) with an AV or video in. That's usually one of those 3.5 MM plugs like for computer audio.

What's the output cable of the camera like and how do you power it?

If you can mount the camera on the side of the bike and shoot video in front of and behind you. There's too much head movement for a helmet mount IMHO. The lens is exposed unless you can screw on some kind of neutral density filter.

output and power are both RCA jacks. Looking for pic now. Was mostly concerned with the recording aspect and real time encoding.

You say MPEG 2 and MPEG 4? Those are compression standards that probably indicate the thing records on some sort of solid state media. Those cables may mean one for power and one for video.
