update on the new toy
Ok, it's been a week now, and the "new" smell has been rubbed off. It's been a busy week for me... getting used to it and being distracted by all of the features. Verizon rolled out a new upgrade for the VZ Navigator yesterday. It is on version 4 now. There are some cool features that are worth mentioning.
3d view: Hey I have found out the hard way that it only works with my phone (vx9900) while it is open. With the phone in closed position, the nav still works, but the front display is limited on the information that it is able to provide. Figuring out how to mount the phone securely while open may be an option... but is only an idea now.
Place messaging: hey this is really cool. you can send a gps location to another person (email, text, or another VZ Navigator user). I just used it today when my wife texted me to find out where I had decided to eat lunch. (I was with a co worker in another city.) It was easy to send gps location. if there were a need, she could even generate directions to navigate to my location (or just see me on a map).
Gas station/gas prices: come on... self explanatory. search for the closest gas stations and get pricing.
I'm still waiting for my micro sd memory card. this will allow evaluation of the music portion... but honestly... i have gotten used to the sound of the motor and would probably miss it.
well if i didn't mention the disclaimer... YMMV. I'm not knocking the Zumo by any means. i had considered it previously, but after serious consideration, i did not feel that it was the best choice for me.
