sena smh5 problems

Ok so I just bought the sena smh5 headset. One for me one for my wife on pillion. I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy s5 she had an apple 4. We both have problems with music cutting in and out. Doesn't matter what app. We have strong signal to so I don't think it's that. I did the firmware update too. Anyone else run in to this? ?

Make sure your VOX option is turned "off".

I don't know if that's the problem with yours but it could be. You have to hook your SENA up to your computer and run the software to see if it's on.

If you have intercom VOX enabled it will try to open the intercom channel if you are too loud or singing to your self or something like that which will interrupt your music.

Beyond that try clearing all your pairings and starting over again.

I tried turning the VOx off with no luck. It still cuts in and out a lot. Brand new Samsung Galaxy S5 and the communicator is brand new as well. My wifes one does it with her Iphone and I paired a Droid Razr MAxx and it does it as well. Hmm... I have tried several different apps too - Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn Radio. Im going to email Sena.

There's another setting in there that deals with the bluetooth data rate or quality. Try turning that off. It gives you little hints next to all the settings you can change to tell you what they do.

I remember one talking about if you experience data drops or something to turn this setting off to clear up the issue. I don't have my software here at work but when I get home I'll take a look and see if I can find it.

@Matthew6279 did you have a solution? I have a SMH5 with the same problem.

The VOX Settings is disabled.

FWIW, I had to do a reset with my SMH10R while going through the process of pairing it to a Scala Rider 9x. The VOX was turned on and the music cut in and out as the intercom kept trying to cut in.

Changed settings to VOX off and the issue has resolved itself.

Good luck.
