GPS downloads

As I am very new at this whole GPS game, my knowledge is extremely limited.

I am snooping around looking for free downloads for additional POI's, map upgrades, etc (freebies?).

I have found this one, looks promising. It claims to be compatible with my TomTom and other brands.

Are or have any of the forum members used such sites and free downloads? What is the proceedure? does it work?...etc

Here is the link to the site, it seems to have loads of Canadian info that isnt in my new TomTom Rider2.

Looking forward to your input.

Cheers!

I don't know it this will be compatible with your Tom-Tom, I have a Garmin Zumo, but it is a great site with a lot of information, poi downloads, etc - zumoforums.com. Good luck, Tom

If I'm not mistaken, they use different map programs. Unsure if that makes any diff.

If I go online to TomTom, and update my GPS, what exactally is it updating?...maps?...poi? or just operating software?

Cheers

TOPO! Compatibility

Have you downloaded routes (lists of waypoints) from TOPO! software into your TomTom?

Would that be compatible with the TeleAtlas that TomTom uses?
