Mapping Software: How do you plan your routes?
Someday, way out in the future, I'd like to try the Iron Butt Lake Huron 1000, i.e. 1000 mile trip around Lake Huron in 24 hours.
I'm curious what software you would use to route a trip like this.
I am interested in the Delorme TopoUSA. Does it cover Canada? This is important for this kind of trip since I'd be going through Canada around Lake Huron. Does it do trip routes? I believe for the Iron Butt, I need to plan for several key stops to fuel up and save receipts to document the fact that I went where I claim I did.
Are other "Street" mapping programs better suited? Do they have more fully featured routing abilities? Do I need them?
Thanks for your help!
