help re bluetooth

I'm thinking seriously of buying a Garmin Zumo 390LM -- and hoping to get some ideas on best bluetooth headset from already knowledgeable ones here. I've never had a motorbike headset; and haven't any riding buddy(s) to match types/brands with.
Preferably the headset could transfer to a new helmet when needed.
thanks in advance
(didn't check on already posted threads on this!!!! -- sure to get blasted)

I have the Sena SMH10 bluetooth - very happy with unit.
Mostly I have it connected to my smart phone to listen music, get directions to places, chat to mates on a ride & even take phone calls.
Linking it to the garmin unit should be a problem.

When I purchased my Zumo 350 it came with a free Bluetooth headset so have a good look on line before you purchase.

The headset is a Uclear HBC 100, it has a boomless microphone and has worked great with the Zumo, I have never tried it bike to bike or person to person.

Before the Uclear I was given a set of BT Multi-Interphone, they are a very cheap set and worked OK with a GPS but I never tried them person to person or bike to bike, the interphone set does have a boom on the microphone that is a little inconvenient.

Both sets can be moved from helmet to helmet with the temporary clips they supply and I have just received some extra permanent clips for my Uclear so they can be mounted on each of my helmets, my new Shark Evoline helmet is better suited to the permanent clips than the temporary ones because of the shape of the helmets bottom edge.

Hope this helps, cheers.

l have one of the Scala Rider2 headsets but l don't recommend it, mainly because of the speakers that go into the helmet are very low quality and don't seem to last long, if l had my time again i'd probably go for the Sena h/set or possibly the Starcom 1 system which l think would be the best of the lot, just be mind full that in some places in Aust Mr plod is targeting riders with accessories hanging of their helmets ie Go Pro cameras and such

I have the Senas (both the 5 and 10). I have nothing bad to say about either of them... work great...
However, the Sena 20S is coming out shortly, with Bluetooth 4, and all the features of both those models... Might be worth waiting a couple of months.

P.S. I have the Garmin 350ML. The 390, you're looking at, seems to fix the couple of issues I have with the 350 (plus it has a *twisty* route plan, that guides you towards those roads, automatically!).

You did ask about units that can go on different helmets, but I have a HJC something max (lower priced of the two modular) it's ok. Something is messed up with the connections through the helmet (mechanically causing electrical issues) so I have to push on it a lot to allow the right speaker to work, just the left will. Also, the mic connection goes out in the same way.
I would recommend a unit that would be transferrable to other helmets. I didn't see any good options two years ago when I looked, but didn't do a great search. I would of gotten two units, one for me and one for my wife.

From what I see on the retail sites -- no headset is included with the Zumo's now.
I also have a Shark Evoline as my main helmet -- and was wondering about the flip-up chin. Most replies favour the Sena it seems. Thanks for all replies.
The Ryda site has an easy 'add things' button -- which adds the Interphone F4 (or F3) Motorcycle Headset. These seem slightly cheaper than the Sena -- but then again, the Zumo 390LM on EBay (shipped from Sydney) is $100 cheaper than them also -- so I'm not locked in to the headset make.
I don't see that talking through it on a mobile will be a priority -- or even communication with other riders -- so, probably a cheaper but effective bluetooth headset is all I require.

Thanks for that.
I see the Sena 20S Motorcycle Bluetooth Intercom is now on 'Pre-Order' with a bit of a discount being offered.

Looking at the UClear stuff on the net -- it's priced as top quality stuff.
I'll have to check that out fully -- to see which way to go.
