Sena SMH10 Firmware 5.0 released Feb 19th...

I bought a pair of Sena SMH10 Bluetooth intercoms to supplement the Cardo Scala Q2's we've been using for 3 years now; the Cardos are great and have been bulletproof.

While not firmware upgradeable (the G-series Cardos are), I wanted to try something different...scored a pair of Sena SMH10's from Eastern Performance for a great price.

The SMH10's, along with some other Sena units, are firmware upgradeable to include Universal Intercom for pairing with non-Sena units (like the Cardos we have).

Sena released Firmware version 5.0 on Feb. 19th that includes this feature...just flashed the firmware on both SMH10's and will be testing them, and their interoperability with the Cardo Q2's soon...will post results.

The new firmware, and the Sena Device Manage software are available on Sena's website (www.senabluetooth.com); Device Manager is a available for both Apple OS and Windows (32- and 64-bit operating systems).

I have both Sena 5's and Sena 10's... They're great units, and I've found them to be bulletproof. However, the only caveat when you upgrade the firmware (that I've found), is that you need to do a factory reset *after* upgrading the firmware, and then reset any special options, and re-pair them. After that they're flawless...

Yup...and Device Mangler (lol) reminds you to do that.
I like the fact that the SMH10's allow me to set completely different volume levels for phone, GPS, intercom and music...and they added sidetone on phone calls (so you're not shouting into your mic if you have wind noise).

Just paired the SMH10 with Cardo Scala Q2/Q2 Pro units.

They appear to work as an intercom out to the effective range of the Cardo units, which is less than the Sena units... This is normal, and Sena mentions this in their manual.

The only trick to doing this pairing is the Cardo must be set up for a hands-free profile - like you're pairing it to a cellular phone, not another Cardo intercom (different button pressing sequence for setup).
