Help Zumo 450/550 users!!!

Got my zumo last week and did a 400km tour around Collingwood and back on Sunday. I had a blast but have an issue with the way I made my map. I did it on the software that came with the zumo and selected roads I wanted to take. However I ended up with like atleast 50 waypoints. You practically have to click on every road change because it will always go the shortest fastest way. So my problem is....I changed direction coming down Beaver Valley and it recalculates a route to get back to the point that I missed. Which kinda sucks cause it wasn't really a point I wanted to stop at, it was just a point I clicked on the map to choose my road. So please someone tell me I'm doing this wrong, or there is an easier way. What I want is if I stray from my route, I'd like it to recalculate to put me back on route, rather than looping around to get back on track. I'm open for suggestions, but if you tell me to read more manual or help file you can stuff it right now! Just kidding

Thanks in advance

btw, Heavy, I'm sure you have an answer, but I'm computer retarded and looking for more ways to skin this cat...thanks bud

Sorry I can't help with your question but I have a question of my own. Which did you end up buying the 450 or 550? I was looking to buy the 550 but I don't think I'll be using any of the extra features that don't come with the 450.

I bought the 550, the extra features I belive are very much worth it. I think the car mount with speaker is over a $100 anyway. And the 550 speaks street names which is a huge bonus. And the bluetooth thing I didn't give a shit about, I use already. I put a bluetooth in my ear and listen to music and hear directions wireless. Oh and have even carried on conversations via phone. I think the extra money is worth it, because its very much worth having in the car/truck. I only really ride for fun, I'm a tradesman so I need my truck with me daily. So I'd check gpscity.ca or .com if your american as they had the best deal in Canada. Plus they don't charge pst in Calgary.

Fantastic. Thanks for the real deal differences between the two. I don't use bluetooth and I'm hoping for a Sirius for Christmas so I didn't think I needed the extras. But, seeing it your way, it's worth the difference in price.

Go here (zumoforums.com) and look around a little, search for routing.

I use the route tool in mapsource to make my routes. Click on the intersections of roads to shape your route. These points will not be called out and will not show up as waypoints greatly simplifying things.

I'm not trying to avoid your question but it's been explained over there very well on how to make routes. I was very frustrated when I first got my 550 (first GPS) and this site was a gold mine for me.
