  1. DIY Soft Saddlebag Supports

    Maintenance, Tech and Products.
Just finished my shakedown ride with my new homemade soft saddlebag supports, supporting my venerable Cortech saddlebags and tail bag. 35 miles, no problems. When I got to work I stuck my hand into the right saddlebag and felt the bottom, which rests on the muffler at the very back. It was...
  2. OEM Panniers and mounting racks

    DL650A - 2012-2016
Hello all, My apologies if this has already been covered (I searched it, but didn't find a specific answer) but I had a question about the the OE saddlebags and how they're mounted. I picked up a set of used panniers (SW-Motech made version with Suzuki stamped) off of eBay on the cheap for my...
  3. Fully Custom Panniers

    General V-Strom Discussion
First time posting, so some background first: I rode motocross for a couple of years before a scare put me off. My dad bought a VStrom in 2009 that I have stolen from him as he's moved to an R1200GS. I'm an engineer that loves tinkering and designing, hence the following questions. I have a...
  4. Advice on hard cases

    DL650 and DL650A - 2004 to 2011
Brand new, just bought an '08 650. I had an '08 C50t prior to this, but am still relatively new to motorcycles. I am also the opposite of handy when it comes to working on bikes, but I'm trying to learn. I'd like to put hard side cases on my Wee, and was hoping I might get some recommendations...
  5. Suzuki OEM Saddlebags differ for Vee and Wee?

    General V-Strom Discussion
I cannot find enough info on Suzuki's website. It appears both the 1000 and 650 share the same mounting rack part numbers. But the 650 bags I have are differing sizes to accomodate one muffler. I'm guessing the 1000 bags would not be the same as those on the 650. Anyone confirm or deny?
  6. What is official contents of Suzuki OEM Saddlebag offer?

    DL650 and DL650A - 2004 to 2011
I purchased my new 2011 DL650A on Feb 4, 2012. At the time of the purchase, I also paid for the Suzuki saddlebags and mounts. Just over 5 months later, I received a call from the dealer that they were in. In my excitement, I didn't ask if he had checked the contents. Lo and behold upon my...

  8. Time for new saddlebags

    General V-Strom Discussion
I've been using some nice firm textile saddlebags I have owned since 1987 or so (lol, I know how to get my money's worth!). They were originally Yamaha branded bags, I adhered a Suzuki patch over them Yamaha logo. They have been on several different bikes. After some years, they faded to grey...
  9. Installing Givi side bags and mounting racks on a DL650

    V-Strom Modifications and Performance
Thanks to Pat Walsh's generous offer for Stromtroopers, I could finally afford the Givi side bags to match my Givi truck. I'm thrifty. I bought my Givi trunk and mounting system, with accessory top rack and back rest, off an ADVrider member for about half of it's original price. Sweet deal! The...
