I recently (about 2 months ago) changed all my pads and braking fluid (front and rear) on my 2021 DL1050 XT. I always lube the necessary parts when changing pads (sliders, bolts, springs). I use ceramic brake lube. I use EBC Double-H pads. For the last change I decided to try a decent European...

I've been using the expensive & complicated OEM washer for the oil drain plug (09168-14002). I looked at the sump around the plug, and it's a flat surface without a machined recess. Is there any reason to use the OEM washer instead of a much cheaper and more available flat aluminium washer?

Bolts on the left side keep coming loose, and/or lost. The latest is what Suzuki calls "Crank case adjuster lower bolt" (No. 5). I have no idea what "adjuster bolt" means here, but it's the lower engine mount bolt. There isn't a similar bolt/nut on the other side. The manual says to tighten...

I've been noticing lately "notched" gear shifts. I have no idea if they've always been there. It's especially noticeable from 5th to 6th. Upshifting feels like 2 clicks, half a click, then another half when the dog slips into position and the gear shifts. I tried "half clicking" it (gentle...

This popped up in the youtube feed. These two are living the dream, and the Strom is representing. Nicely edited RTW content :) Channel link: https://www.youtube.com/@LaviandOllie

I don't know if this is a 1000 cc thing, or a V twin thing, but my 1050 loves to shake off its bolts! I was under the impression 90 degrees V twins are calmer than parallel twins, but I'm not sure that's entirely true here. I don't especially feeling vibrations or buzziness in the pegs or grips...

I'm trying to change the anemic OEM horn on my DL1050, and have bought a Fiamm Freeway Blaster I went to fit it (as an OEM drop-in, I don't want to use a relay), but have faced 2 problems: 1) The stock connection can't be fitted onto the Fiamm as-is, and I have to break it in two (which would...

Hello Stormtroopers I'm seriously looking at a DL1050XT. But I have to park it in my shed where the door is only 80cm / 31 inches. Can I get it through the door? Anyone with experience?

I replaced my tires a few days ago at a garage. The nut is torqued to spec. I've been noticing in the past few days that the rear caliper bracket rocks slightly back and forth when spinning the wheel and braking (spinning it backwards and braking, then spinning forwards and braking, this...

I've had this issue ever since I got it, and I've learned to live with it. It's a nuisance nonetheless, and I can't reproduce it to show to a mechanic. I'm wondering if anyone else had this issue. After starting the motorcycle and going into first gear, the throttle kept at exactly the same...

One year and 24000 km later and 3 bolts have fallen out while riding. As my warranty conditions require me to service it at the specified intervals at an authorized garage I've been doing that. I check the bolts at home per the manual whenever I work on it. I've lost 1 bolt for the plastic cover...

Has anyone tried this MC? I saw it on SV Racing Parts I can't find pictures of it installed with Barkbusters. Do I need to manipulate the banjo for it fit? The stock (DL1050) hose passes over the bracket (Barkbusters) that goes on the handlebar, without much tension or flex Any comments on the...

We all know that things are made to meet budgets, deadlines, supply chain limitations, designed by humans, assembled by humans, etc etc so nothing is perfect and fits every single customer What are things that can be done that benefit longevity (parts won't be available forever) and help with...

There's a gasoline smell when I cold start the engine, the kind when the air/fuel mixture is running rich. It goes away after the engine warms up. Is this normal? Do I need to have my intakes and valves checked? I'm at 8600 km currently, and getting around 5.6-5.8 L/100 km (42-40 US MPG) doing...

Has anyone successfully installed risers with stock cables? I bought 2 risers off of AliExpress, one is 20 mm up, and 25 mm back, and the other 25 mm up and 28 mm back... neither fit. The cables and hoses are too short on full lock (even when removing the hoses and cables out of the metal...

It seems that I've misplaced the flat gasket (see picture) in the adjustment knob mechanism (XT) during the installation of an aftermarket screen. Can anyone kindly tell me the diameter and thickness so that I can buy a replacement? Is it metal or rubber?

The manual is very clear about the maintenance schedule. However, with my previous bike I had to start doing calculations as I got beyond the listed mileage to figure if my next service is a major or minor one (sometimes it became complicated!) So with this new bike, I've created a spreadsheet...

This is a guide for making the service interval reset tool that plugs under the passenger seat and allows Dealer Mode. The Suzuki OEM part's number is 09930-83130 (Dealer mode switch). This article builds on the efforts of the contributors in 2020 1050 Service Interval Reset (special thanks to...
