I recently (about 2 months ago) changed all my pads and braking fluid (front and rear) on my 2021 DL1050 XT. I always lube the necessary parts when changing pads (sliders, bolts, springs). I use ceramic brake lube. I use EBC Double-H pads. For the last change I decided to try a decent European...

I recently replaced the brake lines on my 2008 DL650A Wee. Accessing the connections for the lines that run to and from the ABS controller was a challenge, to put it mildly. I created a document that explains how I got at each of these hard-to-reach connection points. It supplements, rather...

I just replaced the fluid in my rear brakes after a minor mishap, and they feel a little spongy now. Looking for advice on whether or not this is an issue. The backstory: I had used a heavy Kryptonite chain lock run through my rear spokes and over the swing arm while parked in a sketchy...

I replaced a front brake line on my '08 Wee with ABS. Now I need to fill and bleed it. Someone posted a diagram that showed how ABS works (alas, I don't have it at my fingertips, so I can't give credit :-( ), and it showed that under normal circumstances, a bunch of the tubing is closed off...

I've tried all suggested methods to firm up my (ABS) front bakes and recently rebuilt my master cylinder and replace both front calipers but the brakes are still softer than they should be and I often pump them to stop properly. I tired the zip tie method on the brake lever and leaving it that...

Hi all, hoping someone can offer some advice here: Bike is a DL1000 K7 So I've replaced my front brake pads, as I've done many times before without issue. Removed and cleaned up pistons, replaced seals and bled brakes through. What's happening is that when i pump the brake lever, the pistons...

Hi Guys, my Strom has 27K+ and I am now feeling some "pulsing" in the front brake. I am running the SV racing bracket w/ GSXR 4 pot calipers/ steel lines, and I did not replace the rotors when I made the brake update, they are stock. Rotors look to run from $40 to $200 bucks. I like good...

I just replaced my rear brake pads. Now whenever I ride, there is a clicking sound coming from the disk/pads. The click is fairly loud - you can hear it while riding at speed - and the frequency increases with speed. The sound disappears if I apply a little of rear brake pressure. Admittedly...

So I have no rear brake now on my 09 V... 35k miles.. Hit the pedal... and I have nothing. Goes all the way to the stop. Pump it... does nothing. So what have I done before begging for help? 1. Fluid in the reservoir. 2. I replaced the pads and bled, still nothing. 3. I replaced the...
  10. DL650 and DL650A - 2004 to 2011
I've got a chance to get a pair of R6 calipers for little or no jack. I searched here on a couple of thread categories and couldn't find any thing specific for this swap. I don't actually have the parts in hand yet, and I don't want to grab the parts from the owner if they won't work. Any ideas?

I was about to pull the trigger on some EBC pads for my 2011 Wee (FA231HH front right, FA229HH front left), but came across the following text on the seller's site: "These Pads are not for Street Use, Track or Race Use Only" Should I be concerned about that? That was from Wall Photos |...
  12. DL650 and DL650A - 2004 to 2011
Hello everyone! I have a question about the front brakes of my DL650 which i just picked up about a month or so ago. I have looked here and there about an issue like this but I have come up short. Anyhow, it all started shortly after I bought the bike. I was beginning to hear a faint grinding...

Hi Everyone, I'm generally pleased with the braking performance of my Wee, however i've noticed that the front brake feels a bit too long. The braking power seems ok (no emergency braking so far) but i just hate the feeling of touching my other two fingers with the lever when braking. I've bled...

Trying to decided between an ABS bike and non-ABS (650 Strom, in either case). When braking and *not engaging* ABS, how do the brakes feel? Are they the same as a non-ABS Strom? I'd hate to get the bike and find that the brakes feel odd, just because it has ABS.
  15. DL650 and DL650A - 2004 to 2011
Had the first bike "incident" tonight. Stopped at a neighborhood intersection and the bike (now full of gas and a bit top heavy) just tilted a bit too much to the right with my foot on the rear brake pedal. I literally set the bike down hard on its right handlebar. One new front brake lever...
  16. DL650 and DL650A - 2004 to 2011
A couple of times of the few thousand I've pulled the front brake in the last couple of weeks on my new ABS Wee, the brake handle hasn't moved -- it feels like it's binding somehow, that it's wedged. Releasing and pulling it again it works like it usually does. I wonder if I'm pulling it...

Add ABS brakes to 2009 V-Strom 1000? Anyone add ABS brakes to their V-Strom 1000? Are there aftermarket ABS brakes? Where can I find them? Difficult to install? Thanks, Jake

Dot 4 is an alcohol based Fluid and as such absorbs water (rusts cylinders) and breaks down rubber seals. Dot 5 is Silicone based, does not absorb water and preserved seals. I put Dot 5 Brake fluid in two of my previous bikes. Once this was done, I never had to do any brake maintenance after...
