Since your u-tube links are all pro I would like to add some balance to the topic with this video. The comments on the video make interesting reading.
I am fine with agreeing to disagree! That is what forums are all about. As far as starting an argument, when you call people stupid you lost the privilege and the right to debate in a civil manner.

I watched your "Con" video. I didn't see anything that addressed the safety or handling of a car tire? It is proven that the car tire actually has a larger contact patch, so I don't know what the video proves showing rear tires in action. The "Pro" video clearly shows a heavy, powerful motorcycle at extreme lean angles with heavy throttle use and no evidence of tire slip. But the real gem in the video is the "I have a trailer, but that is ok" topic! I have nothing against a trailer on a motorcycle, run one if you want. But most of the ones I have seen, maybe all, don't even have brakes! So I consider a video by someone that may have never run a car tire ( no evidence in video that the tire shots are HIS bike ) telling us of the dangers and that Honda specifically says not to run one, and happens to also say a trailer is not "approved" by Honda but runs one anyway, a bit hypocritical.

Or, one could be civil instead of calling people "stupid" or "idiots". But hey, insult away. Says more about the author than the person they are insulting.

175/55-17, Got it really quick, first impression: How the hell am I gonna get that mounted, lol. Super stiff, sidewalls don't wanna flex, and neither does the tread area. This is gonna' be a good chance to use some of my favorite cuss words. I think the width looks promising. It'll be a while before I need to try it.

Sit it outside in the sun for a few hours before you mount it. Helps a lot!

Absolutely! I think I'm gonna have to call in some overweight friends too!! I'm 190+, and barely budge it when standing on it. But, I'm an old farmboy, I always find a way!!

Is that the Achilles ATR-K Economist 175/55R17XL 88V BSW for $60.18 on tire-easy.com ?

I'll be interested in what you find(difficulty in mounting, chain clearance, balancing, handling, etc.).

I've never heard of anyone having a wreck or having a dark side tire dismount, but I did see some photos once where the chain rubbed through the side of a tire, which shouldn't happened with a 175mm width tire.

One thing I noticed about my rear Shinko 705 when I had a recent flat, was that I was able to still ride on it for a few miles to get the bike home without too much trouble. 0 psi in it when I got home. Plugged it when I got home and it is doing fine.

Not sure if you could do that on a car tire.

.
Yes, it was $54.xx when I bought, but they raised it yesterday to 60.xx. You can still get it on EBay from other sellers for around $55, last I checked. I'll do a post when installed and riding on it, but it will be a while. Still have tread on the current Tourance rear. That Tourance has had a rope plug for over 3k miles, but never leaks a bit, so will continue using it for a while.
