Threaded lowering links-fail.
I put on these lowering links a few weeks ago. Got them second hand, adjusted them to lower the bike 1 inch. The rear shock was very stiff after put on the lowering links, but l thought this was because of lower travel of rear shock. Went for a 500 km ride and about 3 hours both links broke while going at 120km/h, luckily on a straight stretch. Back end of bike dropped and the tire melted through the rear fender. I thought it was a flat tire at first. So anyway $250 tow bill/ $50 motel . Got my daughter to bring my original links to me and my tools, and continued on my travels.
Once l got home l measured the threaded links and one side was 1 mm longer then the other, so my fault for not taking more care to make sure each link was the exact same length. And since they were second hand they may have already been stressed?
