Metzler Tourance Next ?

Just put a new set of of Metzler Tourance Next tires on for a trip to Alaska. Does anyone have any first hand reports? Mileage or handling info would be appreciated.

Tourance Next replaced the Tourance EXP. The EXP was grippy but wore fast. The Next is intended to be grippy with longer life than the EXP.

Guybuck, you're Next up to provide a first hand report on this tire.

I have been using the regular Tourance for all my tires after the OEM tires wear out. This time I thought I would try something different and I have a full set of Tourance Next on order (and a full set of Michelin Pilot 4's for my wife's Gladius.) I'm only at about 12,000 miles on my rear and 22,000 miles on my front so it will probably be another week or two before I change tires.

We can swap notes after riding a bit..

I got the usual 7K miles out of my tourance next rear justbbefore I went to the darkside, and got 12000 miles out of the front.
Love Metzlers.

Did you use regular Tourance before the Next? If so what mileage did you get out of them?

No, just tourance next. I've used Metzlers on previous bikes. Prior to the tourance next tires on my DL650, I ran a pair of Anakee III 's, and scorpions before that.

Just for the record, I did use the Tourance before this set and got about 8000 miles out of them. Hoping for a few more from the next.

I had front and rear Tourance Next installed last night. I now have about 100 miles on them.

Initial impressions are that the tires are more sporty feeling. I always have that felling like the rear is steering a bit when you replace worn out flat spotted rears for new, rounder rubber but this time it was much more dramatic. The bike feels like it wants to turn much more than it did with the normal Tourances. This is very noticeable on slow speed turns and probably relates to different profiles between standard Tourance and Next. On my way home last night I went on some unpaved roads to scrub the tires a bit and probably rode about 10 km/6 miles on gravel. The tires didn't really seem any different than the regular ones riding straight at speeds up to about 70 mph on loose gravel (the loose stuff between the tire tracks.) The tires do feel a bit more compliant on bumps but that is a small effect and could be a bit psychological. On the highway part of my ride they felt fine.. not nervous. and stable hands off with crosswinds etc (same as the regular Tourances.)

I wasn't confident I scrubbed the tires enough last night to go fast on any ramps on my way to work but my early impression is that they will turn in even easier than the regular ones. I should be able to talk about that over the next few days. I don't know if I will get out to any twisties. I might not be able to get much riding in so a report on that might have to wait.

So far I like them and while I haven't pushed them in twisites or had rain or snow my initial feeling is that if they last similar to the regular Toruance I would keep using them., If they wear much faster I would go back to regular.

All these opinions could change after spending more time with them.

I got 6K out of the regular Tourance on 2 different bikes. Must be the roads I frequent, kinds sharp chip seal.
I run Shinko 705 now at half the price for the same mileage.
