Metzler Tourance Report

Between May 10 and June 8, 2014 I rode my Wee around the Four Corners of the USA (Nashville, TN to Wausau, WI to Blaine, WA to San Ysidro, CA to Key West, FL to Madawaska, ME to Nashville = 11,639 miles and averaged 48.7 mpg). I changed to the Metzler Tourances at 1,000 miles into the trip so right now the set has about 10,700 miles on them. The front is wearing perfectly even and looks like I'll get another 4K. The rear is squaring off (I am not sure why so many riders think a tire is gone just because it is squared off) and will probably be usable for another 2-3K. There is a lot of tread it is just squared off. No, I would not use this tire for a trackday, not that any trackday organization would allow it, but for straight up mile droning it is fine. I have NO ISSUES with these Tourances. However, my next set of tires will be Michelin PR4 as the closest my Wee will come to offroad is a median strip.

I have used about 14 Tourance rears and roughly half that number of fronts. My fronts last me from 50 % longer to twice as long as the rears.

On my 2006 DL650 I generally got close to 19,000 to 20,000 km or about 11,000 to 12,000 miles on the fronts. Strangely on my 2012 DL650 I am getting a bit better life from 20,000 to almost 25,000 km (12,000 to 15,500 km)

..Tom

2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 200,000+ km, 125,000 miles.

This can help preventing from cars pulling out in front of you (SMIDSY)

Can anybody help me justify the cost of Tourance over Shinko 705s? I had a set of each at one point on my KLR650 and couldn't notice an appreciable difference. Except in price. Of course I sold the bike when the Shinkos had about 1k on them.

I had a rear 705 delaminate on me at ~3,000 miles, do a search for a picture. That said, I've been through several sets of Tourances and would go with them again without pause.
