Any love for Cogent Dynamic's World Traveler Shock

Couldn't seem to find any specific threads relating to the 'World Traveler' shock built by Rick at Cogent Dynamics. Their website says $639.00 for manual preload shock.

Seems like remote preload adjust would be almost a necessity on the 650 V-Strom to avoid being a huge pain-in-the-butt to adjust preload, given the confined area the shock resides in, no?

A couple hundred bucks or more for remote preload, and you're getting close to Elka price range....

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with Cogent Dynamics products on the V-Stroms.

You need to change the preload only when you carry a passenger or very heavy luggage, or for another rider of greatly different weight. If no pax, set it and forget it.

I purchased my '12 650 used. The previous owner put in Cogent Dynamics DDC emulators and springs. I have nothing to compare them to, but am pleased with the front suspension. He also said he was going to purchase the rear shock from Cogent Dynamics if he kept the bike for what it is worth.

Rick put a stiffer rear spring in the shock for my 2012 DL 650, and I was pleased with his work and the increase in suspension performance. He did it for a very reasonable price, too. I do a lot of loaded two-up riding, and the stiffer spring solved a lot of my suspension issues without springing for a new rear shock.

Rick is really helpful; if you have questions about his product, I'm sure he can help you out. He showed me a cutaway model of the rear shock he produces, and it looks like a robust, well built unit.

Thanks, RC...and others as well.

Almost for sure I'll use Cogent to build a shock for my KLR650, as he has a huge following amongst KLR owners. I'll speak with him about V-Strom upgrades as well.

If I get to the point of replacing my rear shock, I'll be giving Rick a call. I know he makes one for the V-strom.

I have the Cogent Dynamics shock shaft upgrade in my DR650 and my brother has the Moab shock on his KLR650. Both products have been excellent and Rick has shown excellent customer service in both instances.

If I wasn't interested in the cheapest suspension upgrades possible the World's Edge shock would have been my first choice.
