Progressive 465 problems?
I recently picked up a V with a progressive 465 shock. I finally got around to adjusting the sag today, and had all manner of problems. First of all, WTF were they thinking with the ring nut style preload adjuster? I finally managed to use their spanner wrench by taking off the lower shock protector from the rear swingarm and mashing my arm against the exhaust shield, but eventually gave up and went with the oh-so-popular screwdriver/hammer method. Next, after a few minutes of trying to increase preload, I noticed that I wasn't screwing the adjuster nut down, I was unthreading the shock body from the upper cap! Yes I had undone the locknut first. I had about 4 threads out before I noticed. Ended up having to remove the shock entirely (a whole 'nother pain in the...) and put some more threadlock on the exposed threads and tightened it back up. Finally, the rebound adjuster seems to do approximately nothing. There's no resistance to turning until you get to the spot between 1-5. Yes I only turned it clockwise. No, I've never touched it before today. I have the receipt, the shock is exactly a year old (from purchase, not installation) and fairly low miles. Anyone else have anything like this trouble with the 465, or am I just lucky? I'm ready to put the stock 50K mile shock back on.
