Help!!! Non-Strom Rear Shock Issue

Gents,
Any help appreciated here. I just received this brand new shock for my Yamaha GTS-1000. However, the bottom and top guides are not aligned. See Pic. My question is, do I have to send this back or is there something I can do about it? I'd hate to try to muscle this thing and have it break. Thanks for any help.

Twist it into alignment. It might be stiff due to new seals.

Yup. Just twist it. No big deal.

Thanks guys! I've been known to apply gorilla force in the past with bad results.
