Greetings from Raleigh

I'm going to move to Germany next year and decided to consolidate my garage from three bikes to one that would be ideal for touring Europe. After previously/currently owning a SV650S, DRZ-400S, and DRZ-110 (all 2003 Suzuki's), I found myself thinking the V Strom was the right bike for me.

I found a great deal on a brand new 2018 650 XT and learned the hard way that certain parts are incompatible--a Yoshimura exhaust and center stand to be specific--so I figured I better get on this forum to learn about my new toy to avoid future missteps.

So far, she is a lot smoother and accelerates, brakes, and turns better than any of my previous dinosaurs as well which is not surprising given my previous bike ownership.

I've done some extensive riding through southern Africa, central and south America, and a little bit through the US, Europe, and Asia previously but hope to do more with the Strom than commute two hours a day before moving to Europe.

Well, I guess that sums it up. Thanks for having me.

Hola, haolezeus.
I wish the commander of the post I had in Germany would have allowed a motorbike. One of those images burned into my mind was a /2 BMW with a sidecar resting on the edge of field as the farmer plowed the field with a horse and plow. That was back in 1967. Made me long for a ride.
Germany has much to offer in riding adventures.

Dang notacop you must be almost as old as me, and that is old. I was in Germany in the army from 1964 to 1966. beautiful place if you are not stuck at Grafenwohr.

3 of us took a train then a bus up to watch a race at Nurnburg Ring, then walked 120 miles cross country back to our barracks. took a week. Ford GT flying by at almost 200 mph.
