Good Day from Mesa Arizona!

Just picked up a 2019 650XT and man I am so impressed so far. Smooth as glass and just generally a fun bike to ride. I cant believe how smoothly it corners.

Started riding at the back end of 1976 and have been on a slew of motorcycles since then. One of my favorites was a Triumph t100. I liked that it was nimble, fairly light weight and the seating position. I would get lost for 12 hours at a time on that bike and here in parts of AZ what looks like road on a map is 16 miles of gravel. I wanted a new bike that could be all the fun I had on that one PLUS!

Unfortunately .. finances being what they are .. I feel guilty keeping this guy around which was my regular ride for the last two years so she is on the block .. I will miss her but dont have room for two bikes a scooter and a car.

Been Lurking for a bit and decided it was time to introduce myself. The more I read about these V-Stroms the happier I get that I bought one!!

Right on!

Yes, I agree that 650 corners great! I came from sport and naked sport bikes and the vstrom was a real surprise. Nimble, corners so well, comfortable... then you get into the farkling and the addiction really kicks in

That's a beauty GS brother!

Welcome!

Welcome.

That's a nice looking GS, should go quick. Always loved the UJM's.

I don't want a pickle, I just want to ride my motorsickle. A. Guthrie.

I am lucky in that I live 5-10 minutes from some of the prettiest riding in the country. Its not uncommon to come upon wild horses, deer, hawks, vultures, Coyote and more in your travels through just beautiful cliffs and 3 story cactus.

Yesterday I headed out to canyon lake. Its a nice ride and a good portion of it is tight twists with rockface on one side and hard cliff with no guard rail on the other while you climb through the mountains. One lane in and one lane out.

I have made the trip a bunch of times on a variety of bikes but because the powerband on the V-Strom is so forgiving, giving you usable grunt power all the way down to 2000 rpm I swear I must have done almost the whole twisty section in 3rd gear. It just lazily looped from side to side without a care in the world.

Not a bunch of shifting or correcting steering .. just ride. Pretty damn Sweet!

After my break in I will run it a bit more aggressively but I was so impressed with how well behaved it was.

I posted a pic of the section on the way up. Its a stunning ride. Of course I get almost all the way to the lake and comeout of a really tight turn and there is a Deer. I stop about 20yds away and expect him to skitter off but no .. He just stands there standing in the lane staring at me as I stared at him.

It was 6:30am .. so I guess he was right .. it was still his time of day to own the forest and I was intruding. I waited for him to mossy off and went for a swim.
