New wee-strom rider and loving it!

Hi all -

I'm happy to be back in the saddle again after several years of being without a two-wheeled ride. Man, I love riding!!

The tide turned when my son appeared at the house about 6 weeks ago on a, sorry, Kawasaki Versys 650, and he asked when I was going to be getting another bike so we could ride together. I tried out his Versys 650 and then rode a Vstrom 650 and it was clear to me that the Vstrom is the bike for me.

I found a SWEET near-mint 2012 DL650A with 25K miles on it a couple of weeks ago and I've been riding nearly every day.

BTW, this is the third bike I've owned - not many compared to many of you - my first was a 1973 Honda CB350 twin that I rode everywhere during my HS days (loved that bike). Then several years ago I had a 1980 Kawasaki Kz650Sr (nice bike but took FOREVER to warm up before it would budge), and now I'm thrilled to be in the wee-strom world (LOVING the fuel injection and that it's ready-to-ride as soon as it starts up - after this I'll never go back to a bike with carbs). I look forward to riding this bike for years to come.

It's hard to believe but this bike is my 60th BDay present from my wife. We are now in the stage of life where she's totally on board with me riding again - this totally surprised me!

We have 4 children and 3 grandchildren (so far). By training I'm a marine biologist/zoologist but I live and work in SE Idaho (go figure) where I am a member of the Faculty at BYU-Idaho.

I also enjoy mountain bicycling, xc-skiing, hiking, fly fishing, photography and other things...

Great choice of bike, and you live in a Terrific state for riding, I'll be going through Lewiston to Missoula in a couple weeks, coming home though Salmon, Stanley, and Cascade to get back into Oregon. Enjoy the bike!
