Good Morning! My name is Julie, I live in Camas, Washington. I'm a new rider, got my feet wet with a 2016 Honda CRF 250 that was pretty brutal to try to ride on the freeway, which is why I ended up usually taking all the backroads. Just before Christmas, we went and got my 2018 650 which I'm absolutely loving!! I didn't do the breaking in period, my guy did that for me. I wasn't endorsed at the time, and the weather in the NW is miserable during the winter. (No shaming!)

I'm an insurance agent, Mom to three grown kids and fur-mom to two dogs, Jax (a blue nose pit) Radar ( a long hair Chi) and a flame point siamese named Dummy.

I love riding, it's my new attitude adjuster. I do find it's giving me a healthy hatred of people on the road tho... He has two bikes, a 2019 Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT, and a 2014 Suzuki Boulevard M109R. We have plans to do long trips soon, and some motorcycle camping. He's done it before, but this will be my first time.

Looking forward to getting out more!

I've been to Camas many times. That is a beautiful area and you have a great bike. It gets even better as you customize it to fit you.

Grew up here, graduated from the HS in 93. I love this little town.. I totally plan on customizing it to fit me as time goes on, I'm learning how to not be a fair weather rider for now just to start. :)

Then you are going to need some electric heat.

First thing - get some heated grips. The only choice whether you are after the best for the money or just the best is "Oxford." The neat thing about heated grips is they are always there waiting to be needed no matter what gloves you chose for the ride.

After that a heated jacket liner. Not a vest. This one is good. https://www.thewarmingstore.com/california-heat-12v-heated-jacket-liner.html

My guy has the 19 1000xt with the heated grips, he said it's so much better than his heated gloves he's been using for years, so I'll look into them. I abhor being cold which is what stops me from riding during the winter and spring. I did get some really good boots which keep my feet warm so at least I can feel if I'm shifting now :D

I do have a heated liner, it's a godsend!!

I can't believe I went years without any heated gear. Last year I put on the Oxford Touring heated grips, and fell in love. Used them during the summer a lot more than I thought I would.

This year I invested way too much money in heated gear. I pick up the waterproof/breathable heated jacket this week to go along with my heated socks and pants :grin2:

I'll look into the heated grips. Thank you!

I'm also probably going to do a wrap on my bike depending on how difficult it is. I found one I absolutely love and I'll get a small bit and see how it works for the hand grips that are going to go on before I take on the rest of the bike.
