New and Curious

Hey y’all. I’m From Baton Rouge and I drive a SV650. I’m going to buy another bike and give the SV to my grandson. The 650 and 1000 are on my short list that only has 3 bikes on it. I’m here to search and learn from those who ride these bikes. Thanks

Welcome tgilmore. What's the third bike on your short list?

I just bought a 650 this week and am very pleased so far. The bike has really exceeded my expectations.

Hola, if the SV650 was good enough for you, the DL650 will suit as well. My '04 is a keeper.

I am also new to the forum and excited to be here. I have been riding FJR's for the last 10 years and ZX 11's for 10 years before that. I bought a 16 wee and put 10,000 miles on the bike and was surprised at how well it ran and handled. I ride and take trips with mostly beemer and liter plus bikes, and felt I was pushing the wee to keep up. I know it will not hurt that motor to run at those rpms, but its just me. Sold the bike and purchased 18 vee which has turned out to be a perfect fit. I do not have to plan passes and if what I read is correct we are only talking around 50 pounds difference. Mileage is not at good, and it seems to be a bit taller, but it does run. The suspension is of a higher quality as are the brakes. The price however is higher along with premium fuel requirement. If I rode only alone the Wee would have been the perfect bike.

Welcome, I've been riding an SV650 for a year and just got a Vstrom 650. The 'strom feels quite a bit bigger, even though they have pretty much the same motor. Longest ride I've done on it so far is only an hour, but it's definitely more comfortable. Good luck with your choice!

The third bike is a used 2017 Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT. From what I’m seeing, it’s down to 3rd on the list due to being a little too heavy for my 5’10” 155 self.
