Tires in Tampa, Recommendations?

I just learned that my top client needs me in Tampa for a week starting ASAP.

After discussing flights for about a nanosecond, I suggested an arrangement that had me leaving this afternoon on a Suzuki product.

I'll probably want a new rear tire before I begin my return.

Any suggestions for shops to mount a Tourance on my trusty steed near Ybor City?

Thanks,

Norm

Not much help

Hi, Norm.

I get my tires mounted at Suzuki of Sarasota, near I-75 Exit 205.
That is not particularly close to Ybor City in Tampa, but it's a nice store.

If you are here over the Nov 12-13 weekend, check out FLC2C 2011
Several of us will be participating ... you know ... the usual gang of idiots,
as they say at MAD Magazine.

If you happen to ride US-321 south from Columbia SC,
you will like State Highway 3 from US-321 to US-301.

If you ride US-301 through Georgia, you may prefer "The Woodpecker Trail"
which means you turn right from US-301 onto GA-169, south of I-16,
then when GA-121 joins in, stay with GA-121 all the way to Florida.
You go through the part of Georgia that I call The Scrotum (look at the map!)
and enter Florida on FL-121 near Macclenny, the seat of Baker County.

FL-121 takes you through a busy part of Gainesville, a slow ride.
Instead take FL-16 through the prison, and rejoin US-301.
Near Ocala, take CR-326 to I-75 for the last 100 miles to Tampa.

I reckon I do not need to tell you what not to do in Waldo Florida.

Keith

PS If you have a tire emergency, I have some worn tires that have
enough rubber to get you home safely. Free to a good home.

Stromin, Motorsports of Tampa will do it while you wait if you make an apppointment. In fact their price on tires is better than motorcyclesuperstore too.

The area around Ybor is mostly ghetto. Motosports is north off !-275 at Florida and Fletcher. BTW, while in Ybor have a cuban sammich and deviled crab at Carmine's. Best in town.

Tire

Norm, ditto what Rod said but with a caveat. They usually dont keep Vstrom tires in stock. You would need to order them a few days in advance. They also feature 25 dollar installations when you buy the tire from them. good luck.

Thanks guys, I'll call them in the AM.

Any experience with Barney's in Brandon? It's close.

I left home at 5 PM Saturday and stopped just off I-75 in Ocala at 3 AM this morning. I took familiar backroads to I-85 at the SC/GA state line then 441 around Athens and 129 to Macon and on to Ocala. It was a beautiful night for a ride hardly any traffic and a setting crecent moon leading the way.

Took a lovely morning ride out hwy 40 to Inglis, had breakfast with an old friend and his new family and then buzzed down to Ybor to start the work week early.

I'll be in Ybor for the week, possibly longer, my return will be project-dependent. I'm just down to the wear bars, so I'll have to do something before I leave.

I suspect Halloween will be interesting here. Already saw my first few drag queens tonight in the time it takes to eat a slice a pizza and drink a beer.

Cheers,

Norm

I drive right past Barney's to go to Motorsports. Hundred bucks buys a lot of paella.

+1 on Keith's Komment about FL C2C. If it's 1/2 as fun as last year, it'll be a real blast!

And you get to visit beautiful Seffner, Florida! That alone is worth the trip!

Go hakafugu yourself.

My wedding anniversary is on 11/13.

The only way his could happen is if she meets me here.

Which is unlikey, but not beyond impossible.
