A great road, a great ride
I feel so fortunate to live near WNC's great roads....that alone is the primary reason I started riding about 1 year ago. I know I have only scratched the surface. Today, I started out and decided I needed some BRP (pretty clear day in the mountains). I got on via the 276 entrance and went west to the 215 exit, heading south from there. They have been repaving that section of 215 between BRP and 64 for some time now. It is now complete and re-striped....a smooth flat road the whole way. The top section is just incredible! It was sunny, in the upper 60's, no cagers in the way...I'm not a speedster, generally speed limit up to +5.....but I must say it was intoxicating dancing through the turns.
It was so awesome that when I caught up to a cager......I stopped right on the road (end of a straight section) and just waited while I watched my rear view....gave him a few minutes to get ahead....and restarted. (they were nice enough to turn off somewhere because I never saw them again) It was just kind of magical. I road the whole way down to 64, jumped over to 178, all the way to Pickens (around 40 miles) and not one cager got in my way
WARNING: the lower you get on 215, the more gravel spray in the road. Pick your lines and speed wisely.
