I-40 @ NC/TN border hs re-opened.

The rockslide has been cleared.

Be sure to buy gas and meals at any and all of the fine establishments in the area which have struggled to survive the last several months of this closure.

That's great news! Thanks for the update. Not sure I'll be through there anytime soon but if so, I'll be sure to stop for food and gas.

Good to hear they finally were able to open it back up. I'm assuming that's in both directions, right? I heard that they were going to open one side first while they finished clearing the other side and securing the rock face. Is that true or was someone just blowing smoke up an orifice they had no business getting that close to? Would've been nice if it were open last week though, I was in your neck of the woods for one day last week then drove to Memphis, would've made my trip ~1.5hrs shorter, but that's just me being selfish!! At least it's it'll be open next time I have to make that trip!! :biggrinjester:

That's both directions.

While I'm at it the Biltmore Avenue Bridge work is done south of downtown Asheville, too.

Be sure to stop at the Applebee's in west Asheville off I-40 - my daughter just got a job there.
