Unhappy Charlotte area rider killed trying to avoid deer.

May he Rest In Peace and his friends and family somehow be comforted.

It looks to me like he was riding a Yellow Wee-Strom with black Givi style bags.

I don't think that I knew him......anybody know if he had a screen name here.

That's just really sad. And frightening.

I think that's the fourth motorcyclist fatality in the Carolinas caused by deer this year.

Enough to keep me off my bike?

No.

Enough to make me more vigilant.

Yes.

But that probably won't make much difference when it comes right down to it, but I'll continue to scour the roadside for deer.

My heart goes out to his family, it's sad that Thanksgiving will always have this negative association for them.

A very sad day for his family!!! RIP

It's kind of strange, how the mountains pay us no attention at ll. You laugh or cry and the wind just keeps on blowing.

I saw this on the news and thought it was a Vstrom. Very sad indeed.

I hope the family knows about this site and can read our postings. If there's anything we can do, don't hesitate to ask.

I think we should allow deer hunting 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Use any means at our disposal and rid the earth of these critters. At least feed the hungry with the meat....

Sorry, had to say that..

Deer are taking us out at an alarming rate, especially in NC. Pennsylvania is the worst I think.
I think the next farkle I add will be some super brite LED driving lights.

So true. Two deer crossed between myself and a fellow rider recently just before sunset in upstate SC.

I've been "harvesting" at a pretty good clip -- three at the meat processor now and one more tag to use from my annual license. Those were taken from a skittish herd that I've seen -- at night under lights when I've counted as many as 13 -- in my back pasture all during autumn. I've just gotten the dummies that poke their noses out of cover during legal hunting hours. I haven't actually heard of any road accidents involving deer in our area this year though.

My freezer is small at 10 cubic feet or so, and local charities will benefit from the excess venison. It's pretty standard practice for hunters here who combine hunting for sport as well as edible game.
