*Urgent* Call to action Youth ATV's and motorcycle ban

Mr/Mrs. Moderator please make this a sticky on the home page!

Fellow Stromtroopers please take a moment of your time today to read the information in the link below about the recent "Youth Bikes and ATV Ban" that went into affect the first of February. This is reality! I just visited a few motorcycle dealerships today and they already have taken the youth bikes, ATV's, and replacment parts off of the shelves due to the lead content in some of the components. I don't have kids yet and this enrages me!! Take a moment to fill one of the letters out and send it to your congressman, otherwise your children will not be able to enjoy the hobby that we love. Most of us started riding before the age of 13 (I did), and it was motivation for us when we were kids to do good in school, sports, etc so our parents would allow us to ride. It was a privledge that was earned!!

No thought or research was put into the affects of this ban on the multitude of items that it would include or affect!

Please take a minute of your day, go to this website, fill out a request for exclusion of youth powersports equipment, and send it to your congressman and CPSC. Thanks for your attention in this matter!

There's been discussion on this topic since the ban went into effect. There is also current policy action being taken to delay the ban for a year to allow time for review, mostly because of the extensive number of PVC products that are effected.

Youth atv and motorcycle ban

I should have searched the whole site for other posts, but i didn't. My bad. I also read about the delay on the ban, but it shocked me that a few of the motorcycle dealerships today had already placed documentation up regarding the ban and had pulled the parts.

I went ahead and submitted a letter of concern to my congressman and senator anyways. Better than being silent and doing nothing at all. Have a good day!

I put in a letter to the local representative also.

I stopped by the dealer yesterday, and apparently Yamaha has given them permission to put the small bikes back out for display, as long as the sale states 'cannot be sold to children under the age of 12'. Which makes a lot of sense, and I wish the other dealers found it so easy. He said Suzuki and Kawasaki and KTM are still struggling and talking to the dealers about the ban. Maybe another warning sticker, "Parts of this bike might contain lead" or something like what Yamaha has done will work. He said Honda hasn't done much except tell the dealers which items to pull off the floor.
