chattanooga or North Alabama area info needed

Hello southern strommers,
I'm planning a trip down to chatanooga from Michigan with my bike in the back of my truck. I plan to leave my truck somewhere in the chattanooga area and head south on my bike down into alabama towards Gadsden and then to Jacksonville Fla for a week. I'm planning this trip for sometime late february to mid march. Can anyone tell me what weather to expect and perhaps suggest a place I could leave my truck for a week. A safe affrodable storage lot? friendly suzuki dealership? Also I need to know where the closest airport would be from Gadsden? Is their one in Birmingham Alabama ?

07 wee ABS (finally the perfect bike)
05 wee non abs (a deer liked this bike better than me)
05 dl1000 v-strom (too fast & heavy for my blood)
97 st1100 (tall, heavy, fast & comfortable) (failed crash test)
94 kawasaki 1500 vulcan (4spd trans, rough ride, very heavy, no adgility at all)
82 650 nighthawk (great all around bike!)

Nashville is about 120 miles west of Chattanooga. Straight shot down I-24. You are more than welcome to leave your truck here and it's free.

Weather that time of year is very iffy. Cold, rain, sometimes snow. I've seen it snow in this area up into March but not very often. Most of the time it's just cold and wet.

Glad to hear you are heading this way. You are welcome to leave your truck at my house while you are gone - no problem, no charge.

February can be pretty cold / rainy / nasty, so if you can plan for March, then it should be somewhat better. Having been a southern boy who moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1972 - 1976, I know you understand the cold / rainy / nasty thing real well. In 1975, my only means of transportation that year was a new (then) 1975 Yamaha 650 parallel twin. I rode it all year round, that year (yes, in ice, snow, wind and rain with a few sunny days thrown in - for good measure). As soon as I graduated from school in 1976, I was back down here as fast as I could say, "more warmer weather please" !!

For the record, Chattanooga has one of the best and most underused small airports in the world. I am not familiar with other small airports that might be used for connecting flights, though I would guess Huntsville, AL has a fairly good sized facility. If we don't fly out of Chattanooga, then we use The Shuttle vans for either Atlanta or Nashville (depending upon which airline we are using). Nashville, Atlanta and Birmingham Airports are all approx. 2 - 2 1/2hours from Chattanooga.

Hope this helps withyour planning. If you need my assistance for your trip in any way, please let me know.
