Camping in Eastern WV - Nov 13th -15th

A couple of us are riding out from Richmond, Va Friday 11/13 and I'm looking for good camping sites in Eastern WV. I kown a lot of campgrounds closed on 10/31-11/01. Does anybody know of good sites in that area that are still open?

Wow good luck and your harder core than I am, weather is really starting to turn, and once that sun goes down.......it is getting frigid. Good reason why most campgrounds are closed, is this something you like to do or something new?

Yeah, I really enjoy cold weather riding and camping. It's kinda like the challange of riding a motorcycle vs car. Anybody can camp in warm weather. I know the temps will drop into the lower 20s or teens at night. I have the gear for it and take a Estwing long handle camp axe and 21" Sven folding saw for firewood. Some Jack Daniel Tennessee Honey to sip around the fire(AKA Caveman TV) and I'm as happy as if I had good sense.:mod_biggrin:

How about forest service or state park places?
Always amazes me that campgrounds close in the colder weather when there are those who gladly sleep in the snow. Local stuff doesn't get a lot of snow and folks would relish the opportunity to enjoy it while it lasts.
Like the man said, he has the equipment for it and the presence of mind, or the loss of it, to enjoy a white out.
No f-cking mosquitoes! big plus there.

I know you said West Virginia, but Hungry Mother State Park is not too far from the eastern edge of WVA (and "The Back of the Dragon" is in between).

I'm probably gonna be there anyway this PM and I'll inquire about camping there. I think / suspect it's still open, but I might be wrong about that.

2007 Wee. Blue. Bought at 5K miles. Sold at 32K+ miles. Gone but not forgotten.

2012 Wee2 Adventure. Black. Bought at 26K miles. Now 43K+. Love it!

Yeah ... I suspect it is open. I've ridden most of that area several times. There is some really great riding there such as Back of the Dragon, Burkes Garden, Rte 622 (Nebo Mountain Road) that's one tight twisty piece of road.
Shady Valley not that far away either. The ride up to Paint Bank and back and forth between VA/WV is all great. It's just a little too far south for me this weekend.

OK. Thanks for letting me know. I won't bother asking if it's open...
