Thanks for posting the route, Rodney. We went up last weekend and rode most of it, it was a lot of fun. The trails are definitely worth going back and exploring more when I have more time too.

I'll be around for your next ride if I'm not working or traveling.

Noticed your route on Dirt Cherohala. Been looking foward to checking out the road south of the Tellico fish hatchery, Davis Cr. Road/Beaver Dam Rd. Wondered what the road conditions are? Hard pack small gravel like North River Rd. from Tellico River Rd. up to the Skyway?

Have any of you tried Rainbow Springs Rd., gravel, from Hwy 64 up to Wayah Rd, just southeast of Nantahala Lake? Or Tuni Gap Rd. from east of Hayesville to Nantahala Lake?

Cheers,
Bill

I'm not sure if I have been on Davis Cr/Beaver Dam Rd. I usually come in from the south on Smithfield Rd off of 68. Smithfield is a good long ride. It's graded gravel all the way. The last time I rode it the gravel wasn't very deep. I've ridden it two-up with my Wife and had no issues.

I have not ridden Rainbow Springs Rd yet, but it is on my list. I do have a loop in that area, but some of the roads in my route are closed.

I rode Tuni Gap back on 09, I think, it is a good road. It's a forest service road. Most of it was a very thin layer gravel with just dirt in some areas. There was one creek crossing when I road it, but it was raining that day and the creek crossing was only about 5" or 6" deep, so that may have been from the rain that day. Tuni Gap is a good ride from Hayesville over to Wayah Rd. The connecting road, Tusquittee Rd is a great scenic back road. If you like the road less traveled, you'll love Tusquittee Rd.

Would you be interested in a group ride along these roads? If so, I'll plan a route and we'll go check them out as a group.

Please include me in any plans. Maybe even a PM, in case I miss a post. I would love to join you on some of these rides. I've ridden a lot of dirt/gravel roads, but more on a 1st Gen FZ1 than I have on a Wee. I did ride my first Wee on some of the roads you have mentioned, as well as an FZ1, but I was always following someone who knew where they were, and really didn't pay much attention to the route.

Will do Fitty.

Back when I rode Tuni Gap Rd, I was on an FZ6 at the time. I think that road may have some input on me buying a VStrom.

I love building routes for my gps and then riding them. I got lot's of routes. Most of them are paved roads, but recently that has started to change.

Fitty

My schedule is a bit crazy this month. I won't be able to ride on a weekend until November 1st. If you guys want to ride before then I will consider taking a day off from work and riding on a weekday.

Would you guys be up for that? If so, let's discuss which weekday would work for everyone.

No weekdays for me, unless it's Monday, Oct 13, which is a holiday. Just have to catch some decent weather in November.
