Today's motorcycle trip

Heading out with my wife in about 1/2 hour.
Beginning at point (E) shown on the map. First to a covered bridge (B) northwest of Chapel Hill, then over to a winery (C), then to Carolina Brewery (D) in Pittsboro for lunch, then back home (E).

on the left side of the map is a little place called Bennett--on 902. Bennett is heaven! That's where you go when you die! It was a great place to live for 20 plus years. It's a great place to visit regularly. Bennett is my hometown--all my relatives are still there. If you ride during the week, go eat a hot dog at the Bennett Grill. Tell them I sent you--some guy in florida on a motorcycle--they will know exactly who you are talking about.

Mind telling me what winery you visited and the route from Chapel Hill. I'm always interested in good roads and new destinations.

I road a scenic ride from N. Raleigh to Roxboro [70+ miles] today. Good day for a ride.

Thanks

Hey. We went to this winery: Home - ~ Benjamin Vineyards ~ When you go there tell them you would like to visit other wineries and they will give you a pamphlet with maps and details about all of the wineries in the area. My wife keeps track of that kind of stuff but she has a couple of pamphlet/brochures from the different wineries. We've visited about ten or so of them so far, give-or-take. The way I planned the route was to put in start/finish addresses in maps.google.com and then click on "show options" and select "avoid highways". Then I enlarge the map and drag the route around some to alter it to what looks good to me. Then I cut/paste the directions onto my phone and carry my phone with me mounted up on the handlebars where I can read it. If you go to that winery, be sure to visit this place for breakfast before the winery or for lunch after the winery: Saxapahaw General Store They have a little grill/restaurant set up with indoor and outdoor seating. All local/fresh ingredients, and just really good food in general. They change the menu frequently so you really have to show up to see what's on the menu for the day. (They write it on a chalk board.) Or try out the Carolina Brewery/Restaurant in Pittsboro where we ate on this trip. My wife had the shrimp and grits and said it's the best she has ever had. I got the sausage sampler platter which was also really good. And as far as the covered bridge thing you can check out this site for a list of a ton of them (maybe all of them?) in NC: North Carolina Covered Bridges List
