I've owned it since new. Did a high side in '84, crushed two vertebrae, spent the rest of the year and most of '85 getting it roadworthy again. Rode it until 2000 when a float needle stuck, dribbling fuel onto the #4 exhaust header, which was juussst under the autoignition temperature of 536ºF- scary white smoke but no flame. Parked it and bought a new ZX11 in '01, just to have something to ride while sorting out the carbs. I just got going on it this past November.
Never put off until tomorrow what you can completely ignore for18 years.
