How about a tech 'bible' in each forum?

Hi All,

I am brand new here, but I think I have a good suggestion. Certainly I have found it very useful for all users, new and old to have a 'Bible' in the tech forums at other sites.

As an example, I am about to ask a question about a seat mod, and I found this thread where someone has compiled a heap of info.

https://www.stromtrooper.com/general-...then-some.html

You could have a Bible which is stickied in the 650 and 1000 and any other deemed necesary.

Any new (or old) user can look in this Bible and see links such as "Seats" and have a link to that thread. etc etc.

Anyways, up to you guys, but I think it will make certain things easier to find, and it means you don't need 20 stickies, just 1 or 2, and the bible holds the multitude of stickies....

Over to you guys

Chris

It's good to see people who are willing to offer constructive suggestions.
There are already stickies covering most of the major subjects that crop up in the forum sub sections like maintenance. I guess there is no reason why they couldn't be looked at and consolidated.
The real problem on this and most forums I have been associated with is the people often simply don't look. There seems to be a belief that "my problem is original" on the Internet so the number of times you see posts that start with "Help, I can't..." or "Help, I need..." when the answer is often staring the poster in the face either on screen or in the unread owners manual is amazing.
If somebody can come up with a way of making people use their eyes and their brains before they start typing I'd also love to hear that one.

BTW. Thanks for the seats link I had not seen that thread and I have now made it a sticky so it stays where it can be seen.

No worries, In my experience having the Bible, each with it's own category makes it easier than using the search button (which we all know is not as easy it seems at times).

For a mild example, take a look here. Outer Limits 4x4 Board • View topic - __ * THE BIBLE * __

Unfortunately the ones where you can really appreciate the idea, are locked unless you are a forum member.

The idea basically means you have only 1 sticky in each forum, then inside the one document it is locked to certain users (mods) who then can update it as they see a topic worth putting in there...

That way you have one sticky with 'every' topic.

Anyways, just a thought

Great Idea

This is a good idea... indeed.
Although most information can be located using the search botton, the way this one is setup, you have everything at your fingertips... just read the description and open the thread if you think it is what you are looking for.

Be Safe!

Well, that's odd. It looks like someone deleted my earlier post!

Anyway, since this is an equal opportunity thread, I'd like to suggest that you might think about a tech Koran, a tech Torah, and maybe a teck Book of Secrets!

Being 'bibles' you could just make it all up, eh?
