Please allow $tromtroopers to post images with under 50 posts

I want to post images, and I don't want to go into the test section and put ~25 responses somewhere. Please allow $tromtroopers to post images with under 50 posts.

I bumped into this problem while trying to create a new thread in the 2012+ DL650 subforum.

That is what we see everyday since a couple of week. Amazing sometimes.

While I assume it is to try to make people pay I think it is just detrimental to the forum. Multiple times now I have gone to post a picture or link to participate in a discussion and opted not to post since I couldn't add the link or pic. Doesnt hurt me any, just discourages participation on the board which only hurts the forum and its members.

Yes.

[The "message you have entered is too short" filter could probably use re-evaluation, as well]

That is not true. It is too prevent spamming. We have had a period where we have had to remove multiple account every day due to spamming links.

I will ask the verticalscope guys to see if they can lower the level, and put in an exception for paying members.

In the interim, please let me know if you run into this problem and I will manually increase your post count.

Having been an Admin on a couple of fora, I can assure you this sort of thing is done to deter spammers. Spammers are the bane of an Admin's life.

Have you tried linking to images hosted on an external site, e.g., Picasa, rather than uploading to this site?

Linking to an external site is to be deprecated in my opinion as, all too often, the image is later taken down and the thread is missing a useful image.

From one who doesn't post pics, how can your pics be of any interest if you can't communicate and participate in the banter here?
We might like to know who you is before we open a bunch of family portraits.
Face book is nice for those who want instant gratification from folks they don't know.

That's a pretty jaded view, and almost a bit disrespectful to new members here

Usually the first thing that new owners want to do is show off their new toy, and what better place to do this is with other like minded fellow V-Strom owners.

There has been a big influx of new members recently, with the new 650 being so popular, and I am sure there will be many other new members with the imminent release of the new 1000, so we should be encouraging these members to be active and participate, and if sharing photos is one way, then other members shouldn't chastise people for wanting to do so.

You do know that you can post pictures and banter at the same time right

I was an admin for years on a forum and there are other better ways to avoid spam imo. I know its a hassle no matter what.

Members with 50 posts or less cannot post any link at all, picture or otherwise. I am posting from an app and I have to delete the "posted using the blah blah app" in order to get my post to submit.

I havent posted lots of "look at me" posts, I am not looking for anything for myself in posting pics. I mostly post to offer other people ideas because i know i like looking at pictures of other peoples bikes to get ideas for my own.

A good example is the other day someone asked what kind of top box looked good with pelican side cases. I happen to have a top box that works so I tried to post a pic of them on my bike but couldn't so I tried to link to the box on amazon and couldn't do that either.
