I checked into the hotel Weds aft and left Friday after lunch. Unfortunately it interrupted my trip and I was stuck driving the new Porsche 911 on the track and on the roads plus several training seminars.

The new 911 being presented to us:

Getting ready to drive it on the track:

Sure is a great looking car!

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and make the best of it.

My Opinion:
Vee or V= DL1000 before 2014
Vee2 or V2 = DL1000 2015 to 2019
Vee3 or V3 = DL1050 2020 to?

My Stroms:
2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 205,000+ km, 127,000+ miles.

So I did have some issues with the bike.

One I didn't realize happened somewhere in Iowa or Nebraska. I heard a bang and noticed after that some stuff on my right boot and pant leg. I thought it was maybe something I hit that splattered and didn't actually think of it until Washington. In Washington I visited my Daughter's boyfriend's parents as I had never met them. Wonderful couple living on a small farm in Washington State and I spend two nights and a day there. The BF's father pointed out that the stuff was something that had been leaking from the radiator. Hard to say exactly where it was coming from as it could easily be stuff dripping from the rad-cap area or a small leak in that general area. I checked the coolant level in the rad and it was full, the overflow tank was very low. I topped it up and bought some stuff to stop the rad from leaking (but never used it there.) It didn't seem to leak for the next day riding. Later in Vancouver it seemed to be leaking again and I topped it up and kept an eye on it. After that the next time anything happened was after a bit of spirited riding in Western Ontario following Bob Collins. When we stopped it was spewing some coolant out. After that no issue, I might have overfilled the overflow tank in BC as that issue didn't return on the trip (but has recently resurfaced so I put some stop-leak in it and it seems to have settled down for now. (I also had the Rad Cap checked and the pressure release is working fine.) Over winter I will likely have my dealer pressure check the cooling system and try and find out what is going on.

I had some engine drive-ability issues that I talked about in this thread:

https://www.stromtrooper.com/dl1000a...0-fueling.html

This started when I entered Salt Lake City and the temperature when i parked was in the high 90's on a clear sunny day.

The drive-ability issues never returned so I am pretty sure it was fuel related. having said that the fueling issues also went away as I rode into cooler temperatures so maybe there is something waiting for the next hot ride.

500,000+km in 13 years? Apparently I’ll never be a real rider.

I did Duffy Lake in the opposite direction in mid-July, and just returned from a quick trip into Washington state. I love the open roads and desert scenery in central and eastern Washington, and no traffic.
It’s such a contrast from the coast which is packed with traffic.

Porsche has a winter driving course in Quebec and in Scandinavia. I went to the Quebec one a few years ago... absolutely the most fun you can ever have on 4 wheels!

Day 6, Friday July 12, 2019 : I left the Salt Lake city after lunch and headed West. I wanted to stop at the Bonneville Slat Flats and then was going to spend the night in Wendover.

Along Great Salt Lake:

Warming up a bit (38c is 100f)

A stop at a rest area on the way to Bonneville:

Bonneville off in the distance::

This is the road that ends at Bonneville Salt flats:

At Bonneville. There is actually nothing there, at least not when there is no event going on. Just a road that ends and lots of salt. I didn't take the bike onto the salt flats.

My plan after Bonneville was to stay in Wendover.

It's casino town that straddles two states. This is on the main drag:

I got there way earlier than expected so changed my hotel to Wells, Nevada. I was still fairly early there but late enough to make settling in okay. I took a little lap of the town. Not much to see but thought this was an interesting place:

Day 8 (Saturday, July 13th)

1,123 km, about 700 miles.

If I had followed my original plan I would have woken up in Wendover but going as far as Well's Nevada made it easy to ride up to my Daughter's Boyfriend's Parent's place in Chewela Washington State and get there a day earlier than planned (they liked the idea.) My Daughter and her BF were there already.

Was was 10 minutes out of Wells, Nevada heading north. Wide open desolate country.

Snake River, Oregon:

I arrived at my daughter's BF's Parent place Saturday eve in time for dinner!

typical view as you head south east in Alberta:

Into Saskatchewan:

Saskatchewan Provincial Forest:

I think this Helicopter is outside of Brandon Manitoba:

Lots of modern grain elevators:

And some old deserted farm houses:

tons of wide open space:
