Planning a Ride Through NY, VT, NH and ME

Hi Fellow Strommers. I am considering a ride through NY, VT, NH, and ME. I prefer gravel and back country. Can anyone provide some riding route options?

I have a list of backcountry and gravel rides in Vermont, including the Natural Turnpike ride, which is a 100 mile gravel loop. If you want a copy of the ride descriptions, PM me with an email and I can send it to you (it's a PDF document). I compiled the list from online research up a couple years ago when I took a New England ride. You will definitely not be disappointed; the only thing I didn't like about that trip was that I didn't have enough time to see everything I wanted to see. If it wasn't for the winters, I'd move to New England.

Vermont has more than 8,000 miles of dirt roads, so no shortage of options there....one that comes to mind is Roxbury Gap road, a legendary dirt shortcut that travels from West to East from Warren, VT to Roxbury, VT. Do not attempt during Mud Season!!!

Also, try this site:

Dirt Road Highway - Pittsford to Huntington

So many roads, so little time!!

Dirt Road Highway - Pittsford to Huntington

Have lived in NH, ME, NY, MA, VT and now VA....VT was always a favorite. NH a close second but dirt roads are more likely to follow riverways and flat areas vs. VT where topography is often ignored, lol

The 6 Gaps map gives you some ideas of location. Not all Gap roads are dirt roads however...

please PM me the 6 gaps pict since the "wonderful settings" on this site create these extra steps...or post it again large using an outside hosting company (good luck on that).

I also can't PM you now since I'm over my quota of 50 messages ...amazing forum specs for 2018 huh!
