Chicago to California and back

https://photos.app.goo.gl/gYwV74K8UrH4XNuP2

Started in Chicago went through Iowa to Nebraska and on to Colorado. From there we entered Utah to Nevada and on to California by way of Bakersfield. Went north to San Francisco and then went south down the One to Pebble Beach. From there we headed east to Yosemite. From Yosemite we went north to Reno and then east again to Salt Lake City. From there we kept going to Cheyenne and then back to Nebraska and Iowa and home. About 6000 miles. 1/3 camping 2/3 hotel.

It looks like it was a great adventure ... how long it took you to complete the trip?

Sounds like you had a great ride. A lot to see out here. Let me know if you ride to CA again.

@BigD dybane the whole trip was from the 8th to the 21st. We took 5 days to get to San Francisco and stayed in California for 3 days and then 5 more to get home. We hit up Pikes Peak and all the mountains in between to Zion and through the desert. On the way back we saw Yosemite and the salt flats.

@Mikeys yeah. It was a blast. The bike held up well. I did need tires in San Francisco but I gotb10400 miles out of the stock trail wings and wasn't even showing the belt.

When you saw how nifty it is out West, why did you go back? From what I hear on the news, the Windy Shitty is not a nice place. Perhaps, the news is skewed?

I was wondering about that 'and back' part myself. They may be back before the snow flies.

14 tooth for me

Haha. Yeah. I'm in the burbs of Chicago so not too bad. Besides I got the whole family and job thing going on in Chicago. Also, not too fond of the water shortage in California. I am used to better water pressure in the shower. LOL.

In San Francisco the hippies didn't shower.
Kudos on being the responsible bloke and putting family and job ahead a of a life of motorcycle pleasure.

I did that trip back in '80 with a few other local kids. We left out of Crystal Lake as soon as I graduated at CLS. Took us a month and stayed in a hotel one time and that was because a couple of girls felt sorry for us in Cali. We ate canned goods heated up on our motors. When it came time to camp we would arrange our bikes in a square and sleep in the middle. Sometimes we would put a tarp over us like a tent. We would bathe where ever could get away with it. Found a nude beach on the shores of Lake Tahoe and introduced ourselves to some naked girls...man that water was cold! lol. Some good times!
