Thanks - I learned my lesson about cheap cameras in places I'd likely never visit again.
Even in low light or iffy light the pics on a decent camera come out well and the MicroFourThirds format is is tiny.
( what took those pics )
but you can put on a 400 mm Leica ( 800 mm equiv) and shoot this at 1/2 mile.
Of course it looks a bit odd and the lens itself weighs 3 x the camera - the same lens in the larger heavier cameras run $11k instead of $2k for MFT version.
I don't usually carry the big lens on the motorcycle but even with 300 mm equivalent 150 mm X series...it's still small and light...I drop the barrel into the pocket of my riding shirt and takes away all the weight from my neck
That little X series 150 can shoot some superb photos ..IQ is so good.
You are building a lifetime of memories ...don't cheap out on the camera. I usually buy used ....we bought a GX1 body for $140 US.
By separating the lens purchase from the camera .....if something fails in the camera your lens purchase stays valuable. Long trips with GF we have two MFT cameras and my lens assortment and sometimes she gets the better pics
We shot this guy breaching at the same time and her's was the better shot
she went from avoiding the camera to click happy
